One of the many things is that fear affects the mind, how is it so? A human mind is like a powerful supercomputer, running on an operating base much like Microsoft Windows XP, Apple Os-X, or even Unix, which runs the core physical system. These core physical systems are the vital signs, from the heart for pumping blood and regulating temperature, the lungs for control of air in and out of the body, and eyes like the built in cameras of all new laptops. Why is it important? firstly, fear simply does not have any effect on a 'clinically' dead being, so that leaves us, the living.

Humans are like living computers, though we eat and get rid of our waste, essentially we use logic to proceed in doing thing. A typical example mind logic for going to have a shower is:

Walk to shower

Close Door

Take off Clothes

Walk into the shower area

Turn on Cold Water

Turn on Hot Water

Test Temperature

Adjust Hot/Cold until at satisfactory level

This is only a basic example, but it gives some sense of mental order. Fear ("terror") tends to throw doubts and questions to this order, much like a computer having a virus attack. This is like our W32 worms, one hits it spreads until it can be contained. This spreads rapidly unless the cause of the fear is found, if not it spreads and keeps on spreading without stopping. Much like how the fear of 'Terrorism' has spread. This is a programmed virus which can be deprogrammed, however the cause to be know and halted.

Second fear is one which is inbuilt, much like a flaw in a computer system. Unlike "terror" this fear/phobia is ingrained deep in the heart of the build of the initial programming. Thus this is a tougher fear to handle. The mind is instilled such great negative feelings and thoughts which invoke a negative response, an automatic crash to the mental function. Fear of heights is a typical example, it isn't programmed into you by someone else, you just have this fear, and you don't know why just you know that you have it.

In any case, fear is like a virus, and in the case of paranoia a venerability in the system which needs to be patched, like seeking psychiatric counselling. Fear just adversely affects the mind, and makes it do things, heightens senses to a level which it is not normally at.

Fear also affects the body in strange ways also, but this will come more to you in the following chapter of "Fear and how it affects the mind and body"

To read what is fear click <a time or another, "What is fear and how it affects the mind and body?". Sometimes the answer is "I don't really know", or "I sort of experienced something but not sure how to describe it", so the question really is "what is fear?"

1. What is Fear?

Fear is one of a group of reactions to a heightened sense of relative negative experience or expected experience from both social and or personal moral norms. This results in irrational behaviour which can be seen as

2. How is Fear categorised?

There is no one way to classify every fear, however by using key similarities psychologists have classified fears into 3 main categories as follows by the increasing level of this psychological symptom:

Paranoia - psychological disorder, brought on by the onset of the thought "something or someone" is out to get them i.e. persecute. This may or may not be the case, but there is noted change in behaviour from a persons daily routine in radical ways. In extreme cases leads to paranoia

Distrust - is not a lack of faith or belief in someone, but a feeling of caution towards someone or something that is unknown.

"Terror" - a fear of which results from a state of horror, and or extreme shock, when a person is overwhelmed with the sense of immediate danger. This extreme fear often results in a person making irrational choices of not-typical

3. How do we determine fear?

Fear is something which our own senses do not detect, however can be seen by the actions of others as we repeat to ourselves, more often than not, "I am in control of the situation", when really we are not. Such behaviours only can be viewed by others as a way of trying to just push the real problem aside and not come face-to-face with it. The actual determination the source of fear is difficult, as most fears is dependant on moral right and wrong, and how now the media 'blow the issue out of proportion'. The only first known way is having someone else point out when there is mildly strong adverse reaction to what may be said or about to be done. There is also a noted adverse change in daily rituals such to avoid that one or many things, and an excuse is that "I don't like that thing/person".

4. What are some common fears?

Fear of dying is a common fear, one which many people who are living successfully just want to continue living no matter what, and do whatever it take to live i.e. triple heart bypass, organ transplant.

Another common fear is the fear of terrorists, the people who instil terror on others. This fear is common in todays society due to may factors, one being that anyone that "has a back pack/ruck sack or middle eastern origin, and muslim" is considered a terrorist. That might not always be the case, but because of how the media and world politics polarised this issue, this fear will continue to exist.

Other fears/phobias (irrational fears) incudes the common few below:

Algophobia - fear of Pain

Altophobia - fear of heights

Aviophobia - fear of Flying

Claustrophobia - fear of small enclosed spaces

Dental phobia - fear of dentists and dental procedures

Glossophobia - fear of speaking in public or trying to speak

Hexakosioihexakontahexaphobia - fear of the devils number (666)

Necrophobia - fear of the dead

Felinophobia - dislike of cats

Pyrophobia - fear of fire

Xenophobia - fear of strangers or foreigners

Fear is an enormous topic to cover, as it is wide ranging, and covers every aspect of the mind. This, however, is only the beginning to the understanding of what fear is and how it affects the mind and body. In the next update, we shall continue as explore the deeper into how these fears affect the mind and body.

Technorati Tags: Fear, mind and body, fear and how it affects the mind and body
